Goodreads is one of the first places people head to when looking for their next read, and we can always count on it to help us make a great choice. Their annual Goodreads Choice Awards have finally been announced, bringing us a great selection of amazing books across a wide variety of genres.

The Wedding People by Alison Espach emerged as this year’s winner in the favorite fiction category, beating Sally Rooney’s Intermezzo. It’s an absurdly funny and devastatingly tender rom-com novel about a young woman who unexpectedly crashes a lavish wedding she wasn’t invited to while looking for a fresh start.

Romance novels dominated many other categories at the Goodreads Choice Awards, starting with Emily Henry’s Funny People. It centers on a heartbroken librarian who sparks a romance with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex, and it won awards for best romance and best audiobook.

It was also another great year for Sarah J. Maas, the author of the popular series A Court of Thorns and Roses, who dominated the romantasy category with House of Flame and Shadow. The fantasy field was also all about the sequels, and T.J. Klune came out victorious with Somewhere Beyond the Sea, the follow-up The House in the Cerulean Sea.

Check out the rest of the winners below and head to the Goodreads Choice Awards to discover more amazing books that 2024 will be remembered by.
