The Tony Awards are Broadway’s biggest night, and we can count on the stars in attendance to bring some drama to the red carpet. That was certainly the case this year, and we were introduced to many amazing red carpet trends along the way, starting with these five.

Strapless Gowns

Strapless gowns were all the rage at this year’s Tonys, and we’ve seen everyone from Angelina Jolie and Ariana DeBose to Cynthia Erivo and Taraji P. Henson put their own twist on this trend.

Opera Gloves

Opera gloves are one of the most fitting accessories one could possibly wear to the Tony Awards, and Ashley Park, Jennifer Hudson, Maleah Joi Moon, and Alicia Keys couldn’t resist their draw.

Metallics Return

After ruling several award shows this year, shades of silver and gold returned to the Tonys, courtesy of Cynthia Erivo, Taraji P. Henson, Danai Gurira, and Maleah Joi Moon.

Black & Shiny

No award show is complete without dramatic black dresses, but Broadway stars at this year’s Tonys decided to put a dazzling twist on this trend. Sarah Paulson, Audra McDonald, Jennifer Hudson, and Adrienne Warren hit the red carpet in black gowns with shiny details.

Bright Shades

In the sea of black dresses, several stars decided to stand out by wearing bright colors, including Nicole Scherzinger, Angelina Jolie, Brooke Shields, and Ariana DeBose.
