Traveling light is pretty easy when it’s fall outside, but things tend to get tricky once winter arrives. Warm and bulky clothes can take up a lot of room, but there are some tricks and tips you can use to maximize your luggage space and travel light this winter.

Plan Your Outfits

Planning your outfits in advance is a great way to free up space in your suitcase, no matter what the season. If you’re packing clothes at random, you probably won’t use half of them or won’t have anything to combine them with, but you won’t have to deal with this problem if you plan what you’re going to wear.

Re-Wear Your Clothes

Bottoms can easily be re-worn during your travels, but how about tops? Your bulky sweaters and hoodies probably won’t get dirty in a day, so you can easily re-wear them, too. Doing laundry along the way is also an option, but keep in mind to pack quick-drying clothes.

Just One Pair

There’s no need to double-pack certain things for your winter trip. One jacket and pair of boots is all it takes, especially if they fit all of your outfits. There’s also no need to pack several super-bulky sweaters—wear one on your ride or flight and wash it once you’re there so you can wear it again.
