Charlize Theron went through more hair transformations this year than we can count, and every time we think we’ve seen it all – she comes back for more. Now, she’s putting the bowl cut on the map, and it looks as good on her as any other hairstyle.

Theron’s go-to hairstylist Adir Abergel drew inspiration for this look from Michelle Pfeiffer’s sleek bob in Scarface and Julie Christie’s asymmetrical cut in Shampoo. Oscar-winning actress opted for this chop in the upcoming Fast & Furious movie, but this style is already making its way to our daily lives.

We’ve seen everyone from Ruby Rose to Timothée Chalamet rock their own version of this retro hairstyle, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it make a couple of more red carpet appearances in the next couple of months. After all, this is the year of dramatic chops, and it doesn’t get more dramatic than this.

The classic version of bowl cut features straight fringe in the front and the hair of the same length in the back. Theron’s transformation proves it can be quite stylish, especially if you experiment with colors, and give it a modern edge.
