Getting Your Face Ready For Winter

Winter strips your face of moisture as well as natural oils, and this may cause dryness and itching. In severe cases, the skin can break, and infections can occur. This is why you should prep your skin for winter. It is never too early to start. Here are some tips:

Moisturize your skin

Lotions are totally different from creams. Lotions are lighter and better for people with oily skin. During colder months, every type of skin requires heavier creams. Opt for humectants that seal in moisture to soothe and soften. This hack works for both the face and body.

Hydrate your skin

Apart from oil, the skin needs water. Remain hydrated by drinking lots of water and taking Omega 3 fatty acids. You can also opt for a hydrating mask thrice a week.

Humidify your skin

When you use thermostats indoors, you can increase your risk of skin irritation. A humidifier is a better option for your bedroom. This helps to moisten your skin.

Use a lip balm

Lip balm helps to protect and replenish. Pick one that has cocoa seed butter and shea butter in its ingredient list. Don’t use a lip balm with petrolatum; it causes more harm. Use a toothbrush to remove the dead skin if your lips are already cracking.

Use lukewarm water

Hot water strips your skin of moisture during extreme temperatures. It is better to use lukewarm water.
