Cardi B showed up to the Met Gala 2019 looking like the queen of the red carpet. She may be pregnant, but that didn’t stop her pulling out all of the stops and pretty much stealing the show at fashion’s most extreme and prestigious event.

She stepped down the staircase of The Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing an oxblood red gown which was custom made for her by Thom Browne. The star needed five men to assist her as she made her way up the stairs, strutting her stuff like the queen she is. Her train was so big that it genuinely looked like it was made out of the red carpet.

According to Vogue, the dress took over 2,000 hours to make with the help of 35 people. It was decorated with 30,000 burnt and dyed coque feathers and was made with the finest silk organza.

For the decadent headdress, Browne collaborated with British milliner Stephen Jones.

Browne said of the dress: “I designed this dress for Cardi specifically because she has the ultimate beauty in a woman’s body, and that is what the dress is about for me: taking advantage of that beauty.”
