Collect Materials

Start by going through your Christmas decorations bins and look for old ornaments, gift wrap, candy canes, lights, garland, and bows. Other materials you’ll need include a sweater, fabric paint, a hot glue gun, paintbrush, and scissors. While you don’t have to stick with a theme as the point of the sweater is to be tacky, it’s always nice to use red, green, and gold accents.

Add Decorations

Trim the garland and attach it to the collar, cuffs, and hem of the sweater with a hot glue gun. Then attach the other materials like the bows, gift wrap, ornaments, and unwrapped candy canes.

Paint Snowflakes

Create some snowflakes with a paintbrush and fabric paint. Add some glitter on top for a sparkly effect. If you don’t want to freehand, you can use a stencil or a snowflake rubber stamp to create the snowflakes.
