How to Use Foundation over Problematic Skin Without Making it Look Worse

As its name clearly explains, you can’t have a full makeup look without a good foundation. Applying foundation is a relaxing activity if your skin is relatively clear and only needs to be evened out, but if you suffer from problematic skin, this turns into a stressful thing to do and can even make your face look worse.

There’s nothing pleasant about skin problems and sometimes they persist despite your best skincare efforts. There are days when you just want to use makeup the way it was intended: to cover up all the imperfections on your face. Here’s how to do it properly.

The most important step is to prep your face. It needs to be completely clean and well-hydrated. Avoid oil-based serums and primers.

Next, apply a small amount of foundation using a wet beauty blender or a brush, whatever you prefer. Make sure you’re not applying to much of it – you can always add more on the spots that need it.

Set your look with your favorite setting powder so your skin doesn’t shine through makeup during the day. You can then do the rest of your makeup and go on with your day!
