Insanely Tasty Caramel Shortbread Squares

The recipe for these caramel shortbread squares will blow your mind. Make sure to try it out this weekend.

Ingredients:

The caramel shortbread squares have three layers, and you’ll need separate ingredients for each one. For the caramel layer get 60g caster sugar, 1 can condensed milk (397g), 120g butter and 2 tablespoons golden syrup.

For the shortbread you need 120g butter, 170g plain flour, 60g caster sugar. And last, but not least, 1 bar milk chocolate of 100g for the chocolate layer. It needs to be melted.

Instructions:

Get your oven ready by setting it on 170 C degrees. Start with the shortbread layer. In a bowl, mix the flour and sugar. Now, add the butter and mix everything together with your hands. You will get a dough at the end. When you’re done, put the layer on a previously greased cooking tin. Use a fork to put holes all over it and bake it for 20 minutes.

While the tin is in the oven, you can prepare the caramel layer. Get a saucepan and mix the syrup, milk, butter, and sugar in it. Put it on low heat and wait until it gets a dark caramel shade. Stir continuously. When it’s done you can pour it over the first layer.

Wait for half an hour before you also add the chocolate on top. Put it in the fridge for half an hour, and now your caramel shortbread squares are done.
