Panna cotta is something you might see at an Italian restaurant and immediately assume that it’s too difficult to make at home. In actuality, pannacotta is one of the most simple desserts to make, and is a pretty hands-off dessert! As long as you have enough time for it to set, you can make an amazingly delicious pannacotta with ease.

Recipe

  1. First, measure out 4 cups, or 1 liter, of either heavy cream or half and half if you don’t want it to be so heavy.
  2. Heat up the liquid in a saucepan over medium to medium-high heat along with a 1/2 cup of sugar. Heat until the sugar dissolves, and then add in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  3. In a medium bowl, pour in 6 tablespoons of cold water. Over the top, sprinkle in 4 teaspoons of powdered gelatin that is unflavored, and allow it to bloom for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Once it’s been sitting, pour in the hot liquid on top of  the gelatin and mix everything until the gelatin is dissolved.
  5. Use a neutral oil to oil some cups or mugs, or don’t if you want to serve them inside of the vessel.
  6. Pour the mixture into each ramekin and chill in the fridge until they’re set, anywhere from 2-4 hours.
  7. Enjoy with whipped cream, berries, or whatever you like!
