Holidays are weird – some people can’t help but be happy at all times, while others suffer more than during the rest of the year. There are many possible reasons for holiday stress, from pressure at work to the nostalgia for the past to feeling miserable for not accomplishing goals and last year’s resolutions…

Holiday depression is a thing and if you suffer from it, you need tools to cope with it. Do you feel like you’ve just “had enough” and don’t know how to deal with that feeling? Try these simple tips.

Turn Off Social Media

It’s well-known that social media trigger anxiety so it might be best to turn it off if you’re feeling extra sensitive. You won’t really benefit from seeing highlights from other people’s lives.

Take Yourself Out for a Coffee

The weather probably isn’t tempting you to go out, but do it anyway – by yourself. Stop by a newsstand and pick up your favorite magazine, then visit a cozy coffee shop that you definitely don’t go to as often as you should.

Cook

Cook a meal for those you love or cook for yourself. If you can bake, even better! Kneading the dough and chopping vegetables can be really therapeutic.

Read

When you’ve had enough of the real world, the best thing you can do is escape by reading a great book.
