Marsai Martin was only ten when she got her breakthrough with the family sitcom Black-ish, and we’ve been following her career ever since.
Her style has evolved a lot over the years, and she established herself as a fashion sensation during the press tour for her new film Little.
Martin’s latest project tells the story of Jordan Sanders, a ruthless tech mogul who surprisingly wakes up as a 13-year-old version of herself. Despite the fact she no longer inhabits her own body, there’s one thing about Sanders that stays the same – her killer fashion sense.
Martin probably didn’t have a hard time relating to this side of her character, since she’s also been killing the fashion game lately. She’s been attending red carpet events for years thanks to the success of her sitcom Black-ish, but her first major movie project really saw her growing into her own.
In addition to starring in Little, Marsai Martin also happens to be executive producer of this movie – and the youngest person in Hollywood to ever assume this role. According to costume designer Danielle Hollowell, the young actress was in total control of every outfit her character wore in this hilarious movie.
“She had complete input on every pitch; it was very much a collaboration… We bounced back and forth until we came up with what we thought would be the perfect look for little Jordan, and that’s how the character came about,” explained Hollowell during an interview with Teen Vogue.
