Cider is a  drink that has been around since at least the 1st century BC, so you know it’s something good.

There are many different types of cider, but the one most people from the US associate with is a really sweet drink that is good for gluten-free people. However, cider in Europe, or cidre as it is known in some countries, has such a delicious, slightly bitter taste that definitely is worth trying. If you want to taste the best cider, go to these European countries!

Spain

Spain might be known for sangria and paella, but they also make amazing cider. One of the biggest areas that makes it is called Asturias, and in this region you will find tons of cideries to sample.

France

Though they call it cidre, the cider in France is absolutely scrumptious. The place that is known to make the best and the most varieties is the Brittany region, in the northwest corner.

England

Most historians say that England was the birthplace of cider, because when the Romans invaded in 55 BC they were already making it for themselves. English cider is really dry and lovely, and one of the best places to get it is from the county of Somerset.
