“Fear comes in waves, grief comes in waves, both for our world and also for the disappointments of plans that I had, ideas that I had, and for the things that are different: being able to touch your family and your friends. Being able to be in physical contact with people…this Balenciaga suit is what I wore for my conversation in February with Oprah on her 2020 Vision Tour, right before all of this hit. It feels good to put on a power suit even though it’s just to sit in my favorite spot on my couch. A reminder that all that brought me to that conversation is not gone, but life has just shifted direction. ]]> The American Music Awards always bring unforgettable musical performances and the most stunning outfits. The 47th AMA’s didn’t disappoint; we saw lots of glitter, neon colors, and many stars took some big fashion risks. These were our four favorite looks from the night.

Alyson Stoner

No wonder she looks like royalty, Stoner’s gemstone suit by Marlan Bretin cost $2.4 million. It’s decked out in Swarovski crystals and it took over 6 months to make because each gemstone was stitched onto the silk. The metallic top, which perfectly completes the look, is by designer Graham Cruz.

Carrie Underwood

Country singer Carrie Underwood looked elegant in this sequin floor-length eggplant gown with a thigh-high split. We love the one-shoulder detail and the metallic gold platform sandals and jewelry that matched perfectly with the dress.

Lil Nas X

You either love or hate this look, but one thing’s for sure, you have to give the singer credit for taking a risk with this choice. The neon green suit with puff shoulders and a zebra-patterned shirt underneath with matching gloves was definitely a look. We’re not used to seeing men make such bold fashion statements, and we’re here for it.

Ciara

Ciara hosted the event, so it’s only fitting that she’d make it on this list. The color is what caught out attention. She completed the royal blue Balmain suit with turquoise accessories including a bra harness and matching earrings.
