Iceland is one of those places you go to when you want to chase the Northern Lights or go on a glacier hike, but it has so much more to offer. Mature Nature transforms this small country into the home of the world’s most breathtaking wonders, and the unusual stone creation Hvítserkur is one of them.

This geological oddity is located along the eastern shore of the Vatnsnes Peninsula. It rises 15 meters from the sea and resembles a rhino drinking water, but people have been comparing it to many other animals over the years.

This basalt sea stack was once the plug of a volcano, but wind and water transformed it into something extraordinary. Several species of birds use it as their home and its name, which literally translates as “white shirt”, comes from the color of the guano deposited on its rocks.

According to legends, Hvítserkur was once a troll who turned to stone for eternity after being touched by the rays of sunshine. It’s also often compared to the dragon drinking from the sea, since it also looks like this mythical creature from certain angels.

When you think about the bluest waters in the globe, what comes to mind? Tropical beaches or holiday resorts? The answer is far from it. Here are some of the world’s bluest waters:

Iceland’s Blue Lagoon

The blue lagoon is a remarkable sight. It is not a resort or beach but is perfect for taking pictures. It is also equipped for swimming. If you’re a fan of aesthetically pleasing locations, this should be the top tourist spot to visit. The lagoon has a hot spring system with a temperature of 100°F all through the year.

Bohey Dulang Island, Malaysia

Malaysia is not popular when it comes to beaches in the southeastern part of Asia. But this island has one of the bluest waters in the world. If you love a long journey, you can visit this amazing island off the coast of Borneo.

Belize’s Great Blue Hole

This location has a lot of history attached to it. It was not formed at once but took time. It has many concentric ledges and a depth of more than 400 feet from the surface.

Jiuzhaigou National Park, China

This national park is one of the best features in the country. To see it in all its glory, visit the region during autumn when the forest explodes with fall shades. You won’t be able to swim because it will be too cold. However, you’ll have lots of pictures for your Instagram feed.
