]]> A lot of people who have never been to a place before will automatically start signing up for different tours of the city. While there’s nothing wrong with that, often you can really spend a lot of money on it, and it doesn’t give you much flexibility. Instead, be your own tour guide and choose your own adventure!

Plan Beforehand

The worst thing to do is get to a city and have no idea what there is to do. Before you leave, start researching on the internet the major sites that you have to see or experience while you’re there. Then, look at where they are located in the city so you can plan out your days to be in different areas.

Add in Your Interests

If you are a sports lover, check out what teams the city has and if you can get tickets to any games. If you are an art lover, research local galleries and do your own gallery walk! Making the trip your own is the best part of being the tour guide.

So cool spotting one of our favorite female NYC based artist’s work in a public space in Detroit last weekend – Wendy White at @thebeltdetroit ! I love how @dubz19 references iconic branding in order to trigger a sense of nostalgia within us, & then forces us to look at the real damage we are doing to our planet & natural resources. If you’re not familiar with her work & installations you should definitely check them out. Also, quite impressed with the art community in Detroit, particularly all of the things @librarystreetcollective are bringing to the public – all at basically zero cost to the viewer. Some of the best public art pieces I’ve seen in years! Need to go home more often. 🌈 📸: @matt_pwl #wendywhite #librarystreetcollective #thebelt #artofthisworld👽 #womenartists
