Target is known for being a place where you walk in with two things to buy and walk out with a cart full of items you may or may not need. However, this mega-chain is doing something not many other large retailers are thinking about: how to make their products relevant and fun for every type of person.

Target just announced that they will have an “Adaptive Costume Collection” for Haloween 2019, which gives two costumes options for children who use wheelchairs. One of these costumes will be a princess, and one will be a pirate, but neither need to be worn exclusively by a certain gender. And even though there are only two options available right now, this is a huge step forward for kids who use wheelchairs.

What makes the costumes so much easier for kids who use wheelchairs is that they can both fit over shoes, so it’s easier to put on, the constructions of the actual costumes can be worn, closed, and taken off more easily. Also, each of the costumes comes with accessories to transform a wheelchair into the fantasy of the costume. This a huge milestone for kids and parents who have to find creative ways to have fun during Halloween and this should show every major retailer that every kid deserves the chance to dress up and have fun.
