The theme for the 2020 Met Gala has been revealed, and it’s a good one.

For fans of decadent glamor and daring fashion, the Met Gala is the most exciting fashion event of the year. Major celebrities gather at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to walk down the red carpet in extravagant attire.

This year, the theme was “Camp.” We watched Lady Gaga walk the red carpet with extreme eyelashes, Cara Delavigne in a candy-striped ensemble, and Lupita Nyong’o with pastel rainbow wings. The theme was fun, fabulous, and the dresses were all remarkable.

For 2020, the theme is a little more serious. The rainbows and sequins have been replaced with something a little more traditional. Titled “About Time: Fashion and Duration”, the exhibit will showcase the longevity of fashion through the ages.

The New York Times explains that the theme is “inspired in part by the novels of Virginia Woolf and the theories of the early-20th-century French philosopher Henri Bergson, whose admittedly somewhat obscure but also important musings on time posited it as a constantly mutating stream rather than a series of discrete moments.”

Oh, and Meryl Streep will be joining the chair for the first time. Excited yet? We know we are.
