If you’ve ever found yourself wide awake in the dead of night without actually planning to get up, you’re not the only one. Many people struggle with getting a night of uninterrupted sleep, and here’s what might be sabotaging their sleep pattern.

Bad Environment

You should be sleeping in a dark, comfortably cool, and quiet room, since unsuitable environment might be messing up with your sleep schedule.

Upset Stomach

Eating too soon or not soon enough before bedtime might have a negative effect on your sleep. Drinking alcohol or other liquids may upset your bladder, but going to the bathroom once a night is usually nothing to worry about.

Mental Health

Insomnia is often connected to other mental health issues, and an inability to get proper sleep may be caused by anxiety and depression.

Medical Causes

Waking up during sleep is usually nothing to worry about, but it can also be connected to a series of bigger issues, such as sleep apnea, menopause, low blood sugar or thyroid dysfunction.
