Fall cleaning is the best way to start a new season and see what clothes you have at home to combine for new outfits. Decluttering your closet is always a good idea, but it’s especially important to do this as the season’s change. That way, you can find some forgotten items and come up with new ways to wear old clothes, eliminating the need for mindless shopping.

Here’s how to declutter your closet.

Take a Day Off

It’s a good idea not to plan anything else on the day when you plan to declutter your closet. We tend to underestimate the time needed for such a big job and if you don’t want to stop in the middle of it and leave your clothes out for days, it’s best to set aside enough time.

Have a Friend Over

If you have a friend you trust when it comes to fashion, you can turn this into a fun day with drinks and music and the job will be done much faster.

Keep it Neat

Once you’re done with decluttering and your closet contains only the pieces you wear and love, maintain it over time so that you don’t have to do a big declutter again. There are good rules to apply like “one in – one out” if that helps you.
