Tips For Spring Cleaning Your Make-Up Drawer

The time has come to spring clean your entire home and that also includes cleaning and organizing your make-up drawer. Decluttering our makeup on a regular basis is important not only for our organization, but for our health as well. This is a short guide on how to spring clean your make-up drawer.

Clean Your Make-Up Holder

Make-up bags and make-up holders are a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, so make sure to wash them with soap and hot water on a regular basis.

Wash Your Brushes

We use brushes to apply make-up on our faces all the time, so it’s crucial that you keep them clean in order to prevent breakouts and spread of bacteria. Use a cleanser and hot water to clean your make-up brushes thoroughly and do this at least once every two weeks.

Get Rid of Broken Items

Broken or damaged make-up products such as blushes, powders or eyeshadow can create a huge mess so make sure to get rid of these things once and for all.

Expiry Dates

It’s important that you go through your make-up products every once in a while and to check expiry dates.  Do not use expired make-up products because they can cause breakouts or even infections.  Know that lipsticks can last from 12 to 18 months, blushes and powders last for a year and eye shadow and eyeliners should be tossed out after 6-12 months.
