Foundation: how to find your perfect match

Finding the perfect foundation for your skin type and tone is not always easy. Having to choose from 40 plus shades in cool, warm, or neutral tones can be overwhelming.

But we’ve got one easy tip to finding the perfect shade of foundation for your unique complexion.

When you’re next shopping for foundation, choose 2 shades that you think match your skin tone most accurately. Then, find yourself some natural light to test them in.

Standing in sunlight, apply one foundation to one side of your jawline, and the other to the other side. Step back from the mirror and screw up your eyes.

The idea is to choose the color that looks closest to the color of your face and neck. Squinting, oddly enough, helps you to see the foundation and whether or not it matches more clearly. It gets rid of any distracting details that make it difficult to make a decision.

If you’re not sure, enlist the help of a sales assistant who might be able to help you make the correct choice.

The most important point, though, is to test foundations in natural light, which shows your skin most accurately.
