Look For These Treasures in Your Grandparent’s Closets!

They say that fashion always comes back around, and that couldn’t be more right. Before you run out to your local vintage store, first take a look in your grandparent’s closets because most likely they’ve saved some real gems from the last few decades. If you have the privilege of having one or both of your grandparents alive, keep your eyes peeled for these items.

My grandfather Valdemar was one suave looking cat back in 1955. He was a member of the Danish resistance during WWII, infiltrating behind enemy lines and sabotaged bridges controlled by the nazis. He and his squad eventually got caught by the Gestapo and sent to a prison camp. They made plans for an escape but when it was time, for some reason, my grandfather decided not to go through with it. The next morning he was faced with his dead comrades laying on the ground in the prison yard. I think he struggled with feelings of guilt his whole life because of that and he was overall very reluctant to talk about the war. That’s why this story is so short on details, i only know most of these things because of what my father told me. And now Valdemar’s been gone for 10 years, we chose Valdemar as one of Aston’s middle names, a beautiful name in my opinion. #Grandfather #ValdemarJørgensen #WarHero #WWII #DanishResitance #AntiNazi #SuaveCat #StylishGrandpa #1955

Fur

Fur coats are always in, especially for the winter season. You can style them to make them look quite elegent, or take them in more of a street-style direction and dress up even a pair of sweats. They can obviously be very expensive, and most likely your grandparents aren’t even wearing them anymore and would love to see you in it.

Oftentimes, men would alternate wearing a regular tie with a bolo tie, which is a western style accessory. They are perfect not only for men but also can totally be rocked by a woman. They are usually simple but with a beautiful centerpiece like a delicate design or a precious stone that makes for a gorgeous accessory.

Grandma sweaters have been popular for a few years now, and there’s no better place to look for one than in your actual grandmother’s closet!
