Mistakes that Cause your Makeup to Fade

There are various reasons why your makeup does not stay on all day. It may be the actual products you are using but it may also be because you’re not applying them correctly.

One of your biggest mistakes could be that you aren’t using a primer. Primer creates a base that makes your makeup stick and coverage last longer. You need to choose one based on your skin type.

If your skin is oily, for example, an oil-free primer could prevent makeup from sliding off. A primer also helps if you have dry skin because it adds moisture and can help to prevent makeup from cracking.

Another mistake could be that you’re not using a setting spray. This mist locks in your look and adds an extra layer of protection. The polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in these sprays is the ingredient that prevents makeup from cracking, smearing or melting.

You could also be using the wrong foundation. You have to take into account whether your skin is dry or oily when choosing a foundation. You have to balance the natural properties of your skin with the finish of the foundation (matte, glow, satin).

If you have a dry skin, for instance, you will need a super moisturizing foundation to counteract the dryness.
