If you still haven’t booked your summer vacation, the time is now – and we’ve got just the perfect spot. Zakynthos is one of the most tourist-friendly Greek islands, and it just happens to be the home of the picturesque Navagio Beach.

This breathtaking spot became known as “Shipwreck Beach” and “Smuggler’s Cove” after shipping vessel the Panagiotis crashed on its scenic shore. It was being chased by the Greek Navy during stormy weather before the crash in 1980, and its hull has been falling apart on the shore ever since.

Navagio Beach became one of Zakynthos’ top attractions in the decades to come, but the historic shipwreck isn’t the only reason why. The beat-down ship lies in the middle of the breathtaking bay, surrounded by high cliffs and turquoise water, which will leave you speechless.

If you ever make your way to Zakynthos, make sure to book a tour and see this beautiful beach in the flash. Early birds will get the most epic view, since Navagio Beach looks its best in the mornings before the hordes of tourists spoil the landscape.
