Save Your Dutch Oven From Stains With These Tips

If you have a regular dutch oven or enamel covered one, you really need to make sure you take care of it. Obviously, things happen, and sometimes you let the Brussels sprouts cook for too long and end up burning the bottom. But not to fear! There are several ways to get those stains out and continue cooking away.

Simple Boil

The first method only involves boiling some water in your dutch oven. Fill your pot half way with water and bring it to a boil without the lid on. Once it’s boiling, boil for 2-3 minutes and then turn the burner off. Scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon or spatula and pour out the water. Once it starts to dry, the stain will start to flake off and you can wash it out with hot water and soap.

Baking Soda

For the second method, start by cleaning your pot with regular soap and water. Then, mix some baking soda into a small bowl with enough water to make a paste. Take a sponge or toothbrush and scrub the stains. Rinse out the mixture with water and for the final step if necessary, take a magic eraser and scrub off any final stains.
