]]>This exhibition will take approximately 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection and put them on full display. Fashion enthusiasts will get to witness some of them for the very first time and explore four centuries of fashion history, including the designs of such industry legends as Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent, and Christian Dior.
Andrew Bolton was in charge of curating this exhibition, which will use video animation, light projection, and illusion techniques to capture the movement, feel, sound, and scent of each showcased piece.
“Fashion is one of the most emotional artistic forms because of its connection to the body. It is imbued with memory and emotions, and we relate to it very much via our senses. One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion,” said Bolton in a statement to Vogue.
The Met Gala on May 6 will serve as the grand opening of the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition, which will be on display at the Costume Institute from May 10 to September 2, 2024.

]]>During his tenure as Chanel’s creative director, Lagerfeld would always close out the haute couture shows with bridal dresses. It was a true honor to walk the runway in one of Chanel’s white gowns, with Inès de La Fressange and Claudia Schiffer putting this trend on the map.
Dua Lipa did the best job bringing this classic runway trend to the Met Gala by rocking Chanel’s vintage tweed gown, originally worn by Claudia Schiffer in 1995. Gisele Bündchen was another star wearing vintage Chanel, but her 2007 gown was much more contemporary than Lipa’s
Kim Kardashian put her twist on this trend by wearing Schiaparelli’s pearly gown—another of Lagerfeld’s all-time signatures. Rihanna also looked positively bridal in Valentino’s floral white gown, following in the footsteps of Florence Pugh, who also wore a white Valentino dress.
Anne Hathaway delivered one of the best looks of the night in a Versace gown, which featured tweed, pearls, and safety pins. Many more celebrities hit the red carpet in white, from Mindy Kaling and Halle Bailey to Penelope Cruz and Ava Max, and here are some of their best looks.

]]>For fans of decadent glamor and daring fashion, the Met Gala is the most exciting fashion event of the year. Major celebrities gather at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to walk down the red carpet in extravagant attire.
This year, the theme was “Camp.” We watched Lady Gaga walk the red carpet with extreme eyelashes, Cara Delavigne in a candy-striped ensemble, and Lupita Nyong’o with pastel rainbow wings. The theme was fun, fabulous, and the dresses were all remarkable.
For 2020, the theme is a little more serious. The rainbows and sequins have been replaced with something a little more traditional. Titled “About Time: Fashion and Duration”, the exhibit will showcase the longevity of fashion through the ages.
The New York Times explains that the theme is “inspired in part by the novels of Virginia Woolf and the theories of the early-20th-century French philosopher Henri Bergson, whose admittedly somewhat obscure but also important musings on time posited it as a constantly mutating stream rather than a series of discrete moments.”
Oh, and Meryl Streep will be joining the chair for the first time. Excited yet? We know we are.
