We all know that using the phone right before bed has a lot of negative impacts on our health and lifestyle, yet most of us are still struggling to quit this habit. We made a list of few benefits of not using your phone in the evening, and maybe this will motivate you to change your habits.

Improved sleep

If you stop using your phone one or two hours before going to bed, your sleep quality will improve. This means you’ll wake up less in the middle of the night and you’ll feel rested in the morning.

Less anxiety

Phone addiction has made all of us more anxious, whether we notice that or not. We’re used to being available 24/7 and the need to constantly check your messages and immediately respond to every single email is a lot to deal with. Once you realize that the world won’t fall apart if you disconnect for a few hours, you’ll feel less stressed in the morning.

There are so many reasons why sleeping is vital to your health, but there are just as many ways that you can disrupt it. Give yourself the best sleep of your life with these sleep tips.

Temperature

Your temperature naturally lowers during the night, and your body sleeps best when it’s cooler. Even in the winter months, it’s important to sleep in loose clothing so your body can breathe a bit, and it’s also a good idea to turn the thermostat to 60-68 F.

Light

Obviously light is a big problem for your eyes, but studies have shown that light anywhere on the body can disrupt sleep. For that reason, it’s actually best if you sleep in a completely dark room. Obviously, you can’t rely on yourself to wake up naturally, so set an alarm so you don’t oversleep and then throw open the blinds as soon as you wake up so your body adjusts to the sunlight.

Coffee

Caffeine is one of the biggest problems for people when it comes to sleep, and there have been a lot of research to show the link between coffee and insomnia. The best thing to do to be safe is to ditch coffee after 2 or 3 in the afternoon so by the time you go to bed you’ve rid yourself of most of the caffeine.
