Having trouble falling asleep at night or improving your sleep quality? A few basic yoga exercises can help you relax before going to bed and have a good night’s sleep, so make sure to take a few minutes at the end of the day to do them.

Hero Pose

For the perfect start to your workout try Virasana, or the Hero pose. It’s a comfortable seated pose that’ll help you stretch your knees and ankles.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B6D5micpRrM/

Cat and Cow Pose

These two exercises will help you relieve stress and lower back pain, while also increasing your flexibility. Just remember to connect your breath to movements.

Legs Up the Wall

Raise your legs up the wall to let your body relax and relieve the stress. This exercise doesn’t require much flexibility or strength, but it’s very effective.

Supine Spinal Twist

Spinal twists are amazing for strengthening the spine, improving circulation, and boosting your energy levels.

Day 3 of #alovalentine is “I am joy” with any supone pose. ⁣ ⁣ I chose this supine spinal twist variation which is sometimes called cat tail pose. ⁣ ⁣ I do feel joy when I practice yoga. I’ve been with the practice for over 2 decades. (Yes you read that right 😏 21 years to be exact) The beauty of yoga practice is that it can shift to meet your current needs. ⁣ ⁣ When I first began, it was a way for me to do low-impact exercise. I had just recovered from 2 separate ACL surgeries on the same knee. I loved yoga instantly. Most appealing was how it adapts to each person. No one in class was judging me or talking about what I could or couldn’t do. We were all just practicing together. ⁣ ⁣ When things were dark, yoga was there to clear my mind and keep me in the present moment. I was very depressed after giving birth to Ben (no diagnosis yet, it was postpartum depression) and then losing my younger brother to suicide only 2 months later. Yoga helped immensely. ⁣ Now, yoga is helping me to gain strength to support Ben. I believe I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been. And it’s because of yoga. ⁣ ⁣ It truly can work for anyone, wherever a person is at on their journey for mental and physical health. It’s such a great practice. ⁣ ⁣ What has yoga done for you? ⁣ ⁣ #recliningtwist #recliningtwistpose #recliningtwistvariation #cattailpose #suptamatsyendrasana #suptamatsyendrasanavariation #spinaltwist #spinaltwistpose #iloveyoga #fortheloveofyoga #yogalove #yogashapes #yogafun #yogapractice #practiceyoga

Child’s Pose

This is also a basic yoga pose that’s great for stretching the hips, thighs, and ankles and for reducing stress and fatigue. End your evening workout routine with this pose because it’s everything you need before going to bed.

We all know that using the phone right before bed has a lot of negative impacts on our health and lifestyle, yet most of us are still struggling to quit this habit. We made a list of few benefits of not using your phone in the evening, and maybe this will motivate you to change your habits.

Improved sleep

If you stop using your phone one or two hours before going to bed, your sleep quality will improve. This means you’ll wake up less in the middle of the night and you’ll feel rested in the morning.

Less anxiety

Phone addiction has made all of us more anxious, whether we notice that or not. We’re used to being available 24/7 and the need to constantly check your messages and immediately respond to every single email is a lot to deal with. Once you realize that the world won’t fall apart if you disconnect for a few hours, you’ll feel less stressed in the morning.

Sleep quality is extremely important for our overall health and that’s why we all have our own little bedtime rituals that help us fall asleep faster. There are many tricks that can promote good sleep and changing your diet is one of them. These are the best foods to eat before bed if you’re struggling to fall asleep.

Warm Milk

Milk contains tryptophan, calcium, vitamin D, and melatonin, all of which can help you fall asleep faster. However, the main reason why warm milk is effective is that we associate it with this specific childhood ritual that helps us relax.

Almonds

This tasty fruit has numerous health benefits and boosting our sleep quality is one of them. This is because almonds are packed with a hormone called melatonin that regulates our sleep cycle.

Kiwi

One study showed that people who ate two kiwis before bed eventually took less time to fall asleep and they also improved their sleep quality. Whether this is true or not, we’re sure that kiwi is extremely healthy and low-calorie fruit that contains many compounds that promote sleep.

There are so many reasons why sleeping is vital to your health, but there are just as many ways that you can disrupt it. Give yourself the best sleep of your life with these sleep tips.

Temperature

Your temperature naturally lowers during the night, and your body sleeps best when it’s cooler. Even in the winter months, it’s important to sleep in loose clothing so your body can breathe a bit, and it’s also a good idea to turn the thermostat to 60-68 F.

Light

Obviously light is a big problem for your eyes, but studies have shown that light anywhere on the body can disrupt sleep. For that reason, it’s actually best if you sleep in a completely dark room. Obviously, you can’t rely on yourself to wake up naturally, so set an alarm so you don’t oversleep and then throw open the blinds as soon as you wake up so your body adjusts to the sunlight.

Coffee

Caffeine is one of the biggest problems for people when it comes to sleep, and there have been a lot of research to show the link between coffee and insomnia. The best thing to do to be safe is to ditch coffee after 2 or 3 in the afternoon so by the time you go to bed you’ve rid yourself of most of the caffeine.

Valerian

This is one of the best essential oils you want to get to fight insomnia. The valerian root is added to a number of calming teas and medicines. It is a very affordable treatment to a much more relaxed sleep.

Vanilla

By lowering the blood pressure, vanilla will also sedate you and put you to sleep faster. If you’ve been struggling with anxiety, just a few drops from this oil can help you unwind.

Flowers give us clear communication about what their potential benefits are by their shape, color, smell signature, and taste profile. . Jasmine, for example, has white, five pointed flowers and has a sweet, bright, aromatic scent. White is the color of the crown chakra, and this color helps to connect us to higher power. Essential oils from white flowers are wonderful at inspiring inner peace, bliss, and oneness, especially when used in times of stress or when the central nervous system just needs a bit of a spiritual uplift. Studies on jasmine essential oil massages have shown that participants are invigorated, alert and vigorous following massage. . The five points of the jasmine officinalis flower indicate that it has general tonifying properties. . Essential oils from flowers are also great to use when you are planning to become pregnant, pregnant or nursing because floral energy is the energy of reproduction. This is because flowers help bring pollinators and move pollen into the masculine pieces of the plant. . Jasmine is a very fragile flower, easily broken. Therefore the oil is hypothesized to be of particular benefit when used during times where we lack confidence, have our ego a bit bruised, or need a bit of self-love. .
