These Tips Will Help You Turn Into a Bonafide Home Bartender

If you’ve ever had a really fantastic cocktail from a bar and thought, I wish I could make drinks like that at home, you really can! There are so many different tricks that bartenders use in order to make our drinks extra delicious, and if you follow these tips, your cocktails can be just as good.

Herbs

Not only are herbs the secret to making a drink a little lighter and fresher, but they also make for a beautiful garnish as well. With herbs, you can kill two birds with one stone, so stock up on your favorites and add them to your cocktails! Pro tip: in order to get the most flavor out of your herbs, release some of the essential oils by smacking them on the back of your hand a few times.

Simple Syrups

Simple syrups are used in so many different cocktails as a way to sweeten things up. Whether you want to make a margarita, a daiquiri, a French 95 or more, they all need a sweetener. To make a simple syrup, just combine equal parts sugar and water, and simmer them together until the sugar dissolves. Pro tip: once the sugar has dissolved, add in some extra flavoring like fruit, herbs, or even flowers to infuse the syrup and make it even more flavorful!
