Bold wall colors are sure gorgeous, but everything comes to an end. Getting back to light can be a real problem. If you don’t want to spend too much money on hiring professional painters, you can try and do the job yourself. You will definitely use some of these basic tricks during the process.
Use a White Primer
A white primer is the first step in painting over a dark wall color. You have to remember that you must not skip this one because you probably won’t get the results you’ve wanted, or it will take you much longer. Find a quality product, it will be worth all of your money. By using a primer you’re saving up on the actual lighter color, since you’ll use less layers of it.
Multiple Layers
You will not only need several layers of paint but possibly multiple layers of the primer. If you are dealing with really dark colors such as black, or the hardest one to cover- red, you will need two layers of white primer.
Now Paint!
The following step is, of course the new paint. When you want to paint over a dark wall color, you will need a quality roller and thick layers of the paint.
