A lot of people are frightened by the idea of making a cake from scratch. But, for this cake, all you need is an electric mixer or a whisk and one bowl and you’re ready to get baking.
Ingredients
For this cake, you will need 3 cups of cake flour, 1 3/4 cups of sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 3/4 teaspoon of salt for the dry ingredients. You can make your own cake flour at home with cornstarch and all-purpose flour if you don’t have any on hand! For the wet ingredients, you need 4 eggs, 3/4 cup of melted unsalted butter, 1 cup of any type of milk, and 1 tablespoon plus a bit more of vanilla extract of vanilla essence if you want it to taste more like a cake box mix.
Recipe
- Start by preheating the oven to 350 F and putting parchment paper at the bottom of your cake tins and greasing them.
- Mix all the dry ingredients together well so they’re combined and then add all the wet ingredients at once and mix for 1 minute. If you’re using a hand whisk, mix for 3.
- Divide the batter into the tins or pour it all into one big one, bake for 25-30 minutes, and you’re done!
