In her book titled 'The Art of Beauty' (1878), British author, illustrator and painter, Mary Haweis presents ‘feeling’ (the expression of a maker’s unique emotions and values) and thought (production with intentionality and care) as the essential ingredients of good design. She argues that even when there is an apparent lack of skill, deficiencies can be compensated for by the thoughtfulness in concept of an artefact:⠀ ⠀ “There are innumerable instances we might quote of early work, in which ignorance and mediocre ability go hand in hand with an enthusiasm and thoroughness of conception worthy of any age, which ennobles and redeems the whole production…We feel that the [makers] had all that makes an artist – feeling and enthusiasm”⠀ ⠀ Haweis is arguing for the idea that when we infuse what we do with deep care and intention and when our creative process is driven by the desire to express something personal to us, even when we may not have all the skills of the expert, this thought and care will shine through in a way that has value that can be perceived by all. ⠀ ⠀ This same idea applies so readily to the creation of a home: thought, care and enthusiasm, seem to me to be far more vital ingredients than money or expertise when it comes to the making of warm and soulful spaces.⠀ ⠀ #ingredientsldn⠀ ⠀ Image shows our Hand Dyed Velvet Jewel Cushion Covers in Dappled Sage and Dappled Olive and Belgian Linen Blanket Throw in Ecru (used as a sofa cover).⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #neutraldecor #naturaldecor #naturalhomedecor⠀ #realliving #howyouhome #inmydomaine⠀ #timelessdesign #atmine #interiorwarrior⠀ #interiordecorator #interiorstyle #interiorideas #homegoals #interiormilk #myhousebeautiful #theworldofinteriors #fineinteriors #adstyle

Neutral tones

Neutral and warm colors such as beige, ivory, taupe, black and gray have been dominating in 2019 and this trend will continue this year as well. A neutral color palette will give your home a sophisticated touch and make it feel brighter even on cloudy days.

Vintage Items

Vintage home decor has been trending in 2019 and this won’t change in 2020. Only a few rustic and old items can give your home that irresistible vintage vibe we absolutely adore.

Rich texture and pattern

If you’re opting for a neutral color palette, the best way to create contrast is to decorate with rich textures and patterns. This means a lot of throw pillows, colorful rugs and knitted blankets that’ll give your home a cozy note.
