Despite the scaled-down format of the ceremony, our favorite stars brought their A-fashion game to the red carpet and gave us these three amazing trends along the way.

If we had to pick the breakout fashion trend of this year’s Oscars, cutout dresses would lead the way. Zendaya, Carey Mulligan, Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby, and Viola Davis all embraced different variations of this trend and made us excited to see it on the red carpet again.

Vibrant colors were ruling the red carpet at the Oscars—especially red! Amanda Seyfried’s Armani gown was our personal favorite, but Angela Bassett, Reese Witherspoon, and Olivia Colman were also among the stars who put “red” on the red carpet with their looks.
