It always seems like it’s too risky to wash your favorite throw blankets, but after a long winter, it is totally necessary. But don’t fear! There are easy ways to clean your favorite blankets if you want to be able to preserve them for the next winter, just make sure you follow these tips and keep them in tip-top shape.

Spot Treatment

Before you put your throw blanket into the wash, make sure that you check for stains first and spot treat. The best way to do that is to actually just take dish soap and pour some on and rub it. You never want to use bleach or anything with chlorine because it is too harsh and will ruin the fabric since it’s not so sturdy.

Washing and Drying

The best way to physically wash the blanket is on a cold setting with just a little bit of detergent, again, nothing with bleach or chlorine. Then, once it is clean, the recommended thing is to hang it on a drying rack or outside on a line. If you need it to try quickly, use the tumble setting on your machine and make sure the heat is super low.
