Spring cleaning 🧹 I know it probably doesn’t sound much like us but this year we’re looking at scaling back a bit on the number of plants we own (or at least reduce the hoarding habit) so we can hopefully enjoy & take better care of the ones we already have. Taking care of hundreds of plants is a lot of time & effort especially when dealing with extreme weather conditions, pets, bugs, critters, even birds, kids, everyone wants a piece of them 😡 But do not fret! Oh yeah! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 I finished this piece last night and I am so excited that it will be included in this week’s shop update on sarahkbenning.com! It always feels good to make some tangible progress! If you caught my post yesterday, then you already know that this piece sat in my in-process pile for a long time. I get asked all the time how I am able to create so much work so frequently. The simple answer is that I work very long hours. I love what I do, so I don’t mind (don’t worry, I take breaks when I need to and Davey and I have been working very hard to prioritize some down time/fun time/house work time on weekends). Plus, it doesn’t hurt that I can stitch AND watch tv (or listen to audiobooks or podcasts) at the same time. Lately, I’ve found myself falling into a rhythm of working on person/more complex projects in the early morning and late evening and getting the day to day business stuff and DIY driven work done during more regular business hours (for me that’s usually 9-7). There is always work I *need* to get done and work I *want* to get done and I am forever trying to find a balance that allows for heathy sleeping/eating/exercising/socializing patterns. Even now, 6 years into this creative business, I don’t think I have it all figured out yet. But lately, things are flowing and I am grateful.

]]> Hair colors inspired by beverages are not such a new thing anymore (think Starbucks unicorn frappuccino and mulled wine). The new trend is now on the block and it comes from the refreshing summer drink, pink lemonade. Constance Wu debuted pink lemonade hair on Instagram a few days ago and girls are already going crazy about it.

According to Wu’s hairdresser, Ara Ko, the process of getting the color took eight hours. She spoke for Elle saying: “The ends are actually just blonde because they didn’t get light enough to take the pink color very well. There is less heat at the ends of the hair than the roots so, therefore, it does not process as quickly.”

She had a few tips for girls who want to copy the style:

“Be patient, trust your stylist. It may take a few sessions to achieve the desired color. Avoid any box color or dark hair dye, even if it is professionally done. Wash your hair as little as possible with cool or lukewarm water [because] hot water will strip out color.”
