Don’t Ever Use Vinegar

Vinegar is definitely the ingredient you have to stay away from when you clean granite countertops. It can be very damaging for natural stones such as this one. Its acidity is the main concern, not only with vinegar but also with all other similar cleaners.

Forget About Scrubbing

Every single cleaning product that contains scrubbing chemicals, or actually any type of harsh chemicals is not meant for these countertops. Also, strong motions are not recommended. There is a sealant on the surface that protects the material, so if you scrub hard you can remove it.

Try DIY Products

The best way to know that you’ll clean granite countertops safely is that you prepare your own products at home. Use a very gentle soap and microfiber cloths. You don’t need anything else.

Freeze it

Freezing the onions can really take away that harsh smell that makes your eyes watery. The only negative side of this method is that the onion will be a bit harder to cut because it will be frozen, but it’s not a big thing to worry about. Place it in the freezer for 15 to 30 minutes and that should do the trick.

Cut it Underwater

This one definitely sounds weird, but it’s such an efficient tip. Place the onion in a bowl filled with water and start cutting. The irritation will be gone right away. You will still need to drain it from the water at the end.

Use the Microwave

Place the whole onion in the microwave for half a minute, then take it out. It won’t completely take away the tears, but they will be reduced to minimum. It is one of the easiest tricks to cut onions.

Freeze it

Freezing the onions can really take away that harsh smell that makes your eyes watery. The only negative side of this method is that the onion will be a bit harder to cut because it will be frozen, but it’s not a big thing to worry about. Place it in the freezer for 15 to 30 minutes and that should do the trick.

Cut it Underwater

This one definitely sounds weird, but it’s such an efficient tip. Place the onion in a bowl filled with water and start cutting. The irritation will be gone right away. You will still need to drain it from the water at the end.

Use the Microwave

Place the whole onion in the microwave for half a minute, then take it out. It won’t completely take away the tears, but they will be reduced to minimum. It is one of the easiest tricks to cut onions.
