If this is really true, then the galgos of Spain have been badly betrayed 🥀. ——————————————- There is a very cruel custom amongst Spanish hunters, or "galgueros", that destroys more than 50 000 galgos every year. ——————————————- The galgos are greyhounds used for hunting, but most are used for only one season and then, they are killed. If they hunt poorly, they are tortured as "payback" for the shame they put upon their owners. ——————————————- The reasoning of the galgueros is that by torturing and killing the dogs they wash away the dishonor the dogs displayed that brought shame to them. We will not talk about the exact details of the torture techniques used to kill the dogs (because they're too awful and it's not necessary), but I think it is still important to mention the importance of that day. ——————————————- February first is the day these dogs are killed. As an animal lover, I am talking about it today to stop the abuses of these poor dogs (and of all animals in the world!). As I said before, together we can make things change. —————————————— Today, let's talk about it to make people aware of this tragic day that comes back every year.
