The Primetime Emmy Awards are television’s biggest night, and they lived up to their name this year. Hollywood royalty flocked to Los Angeles on Monday night to celebrate the best TV shows of the past year—and introduced us to these three amazing red carpet trends.

Velvet Fever

Velvet tends to make a comeback once winter arrives, and many stars at the Emmys welcomed it with open arms. Niecy Nash delivered the most spectacular velvet look in her custom Greta Constantine dress, and she was closely followed by Jessica Williams, Christina Applegate, and Elizabeth Debicki.

Wine-Inspired Dresses

Many stars at this year’s Emmys, including Suki Waterhouse and Katherine Heigl hit the red carpet in red gowns, while others opted for darker, wine-inspired shades. Selena Gomez, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Poehler, and Taraji P. Henson embraced this trend in dresses that should be admired with a glass of merlot or pinot noir in hand.

Floral Gowns

Winter didn’t stop our favorite stars from hitting the red carpet in dreamy gowns with floral prints and embellishments. Jenna Ortega and Simona Tabasco made us fall in love with this trend, and they were closely followed by Meghann Fahy, Ali Wong, and Beatrice Grannó.
