Yard sales are an amazing way to get rid of stuff you don’t need and earn some extra money along the way. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s easy to organize a successful one, and if you’re still a newbie, here’s a couple of common mistakes that could ruin your sale before it even started.

Lack of Marketing

If you want a lot of people to show up, you’ll have to go the extra mile to make it happen. Tell your friends and post signs around your neighborhood, but don’t stop there. Put Facebook groups and Craigslist boards to some good use, as well.

Money Troubles

We’re guessing people will be paying with cash during your sale, so make sure you’re able to give everyone their exact change. Break your big bills into smaller ones before the sale, and put your coins aside in the days – or even weeks – leading up to it.

Poor Display

No matter how many valuable items you have in store, people won’t be interested in checking them out if you don’t display them in an appealing way. Also, make sure that the prices are visible so that potential buyers wouldn’t have to check in with you every time.
