Toiletries always make their way to the list of essentials that you’re going to pack for your trip—and the way you pack them makes all the difference. There are many different factors that will help you determine how to pack your toiletries, and here are five worth taking into consideration.

Free Toiletries

Most hotels and Airbnbs offer free shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, and other essentials, so you can avoid packing them in your toiletries bag if they’re available free of charge.

Airline Requirements

When flying with a carry-on suitcase, it’s important to remember your toiletries should be packed in 100 ml containers, and they should all fit inside a quart-sized bag.

No Big Bottles

Even when traveling with checked luggage, full-sized bottles are best avoided. They’re too heavy to carry and take a lot of space, so it’s much better to pour the products you need into smaller containers.

Buying Later

If you’re embarking on a longer trip and aren’t super specific about the products you’re using, you can simply buy them once you reach your destination country.

Leak Prevention

It’s also crucial to properly seal your toiletry bottles, thus preventing potential leaks. Putting them inside a properly sealed Ziploc bag is a must, but you can also try sealing the caps with duct tape.
