I’ve been extra quiet recently bc I was job huntin’ to find a full time gig again. A lot of people dream of having their own time to work on their passion project and while I loved every bit of it, it was isolating. Move to the suburbs and add a child to the mix plus postpartum depression and I became a hermit. I’m excited to say I’m working in the city again for a forward thinking and v fun startup. I can also say that if I feel like there’s an extra pep In my step towards my own independence then I’m gonna be a better Mama. Plain and simple. I started last week and this past weekend I was soaking every sloppy open mouthed kiss, sweet baby smell and holding onto every bit of affection from him. Hellajam ain’t goin’ nowhere and if anything, having little time to create will only push me to put out even better quality/well thought out work. But in the meantime, if my videos are shorter than normal or if I miss one here or there… huge life changes are happening for the better and i can’t wait to let you in on all the fun🤩

  • mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon (because if you use a metal spoon it will draw out the vital properties of the bentonite clay)

  • filtered water
  • tea tree essential oil

Steps

  • In a mixing bowl, add a tablespoon of bentonite clay.
  • Add 5 drops of tea tree essential oil (nothing more as this can irritate the skin when used excessively).
  • Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of filtered water.
  • Mix well with a wooden spoon.
  • Apply on the face and leave it on until it gets hard for around 15-20 minutes.
  • Wash it off after following a gentle cleanser with lukewarm water.
  • Pat dry with a cotton face cloth.

Yesterday, I got caught in a downpour. Not a drizzle. I’m talking flash flood warnings, limited visibility, squishy sneakers. The shops were closed, and I had no umbrella. Lately, I’ve been making it a practice to ask myself in moments of discomfort, when things are beyond my control, “Is there is pleasure I can find in this experience?” I can’t change it. Is there a way I can enjoy it? I relaxed my muscles. I took some full breaths. I unclenched my jaw. I allowed myself to breathe in the water-soaked city. Rain has always been my favorite scent. I felt the drops in my hair and on my face. Cool after a week of heatwaves. I walked slowly, allowing myself the gift of presence. Allowing myself to feel. At the crosswalk, a kind, handsome stranger held his umbrella over my head. He and his brother walked me the rest of the way to the train. I don’t know if that would’ve happened either way, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that in a moment when my resistance was down, when my heart was open, I so tangibly received the support I needed. When I got to the train station, I saw a woman looking for someone to swipe her, so I paid the kindness I received forward and paid her fare. Some days, this is all we can do. Relax into the challenge, and be a hand of ease on the back of another. This could be about creativity, but to be honest, it’s kinda about everything.

I’ve been extra quiet recently bc I was job huntin’ to find a full time gig again. A lot of people dream of having their own time to work on their passion project and while I loved every bit of it, it was isolating. Move to the suburbs and add a child to the mix plus postpartum depression and I became a hermit. I’m excited to say I’m working in the city again for a forward thinking and v fun startup. I can also say that if I feel like there’s an extra pep In my step towards my own independence then I’m gonna be a better Mama. Plain and simple. I started last week and this past weekend I was soaking every sloppy open mouthed kiss, sweet baby smell and holding onto every bit of affection from him. Hellajam ain’t goin’ nowhere and if anything, having little time to create will only push me to put out even better quality/well thought out work. But in the meantime, if my videos are shorter than normal or if I miss one here or there… huge life changes are happening for the better and i can’t wait to let you in on all the fun🤩

Ingredients

  • mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon (because if you use a metal spoon it will draw out the vital properties of the bentonite clay)
  • bentonite clay
  • filtered water
  • tea tree essential oil
  • apple cider vinegar

Steps

  • In a mixing bowl, add a tablespoon of bentonite clay.
  • Add 5 drops of tea tree essential oil (nothing more as this can irritate the skin when used excessively).
  • Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of filtered water.
  • Mix well with a wooden spoon.
  • Apply on the face and leave it on until it gets hard for around 15-20 minutes.
  • Wash it off after following a gentle cleanser with lukewarm water.
  • Pat dry with a cotton face cloth.

Yesterday, I got caught in a downpour. Not a drizzle. I’m talking flash flood warnings, limited visibility, squishy sneakers. The shops were closed, and I had no umbrella. Lately, I’ve been making it a practice to ask myself in moments of discomfort, when things are beyond my control, “Is there is pleasure I can find in this experience?” I can’t change it. Is there a way I can enjoy it? I relaxed my muscles. I took some full breaths. I unclenched my jaw. I allowed myself to breathe in the water-soaked city. Rain has always been my favorite scent. I felt the drops in my hair and on my face. Cool after a week of heatwaves. I walked slowly, allowing myself the gift of presence. Allowing myself to feel. At the crosswalk, a kind, handsome stranger held his umbrella over my head. He and his brother walked me the rest of the way to the train. I don’t know if that would’ve happened either way, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that in a moment when my resistance was down, when my heart was open, I so tangibly received the support I needed. When I got to the train station, I saw a woman looking for someone to swipe her, so I paid the kindness I received forward and paid her fare. Some days, this is all we can do. Relax into the challenge, and be a hand of ease on the back of another. This could be about creativity, but to be honest, it’s kinda about everything.

Pop artist Andy Warhol was born on this day in 1928. Warhol's “Brillo Boxes” were introduced in 1964 when a New York art gallery was filled with some 400 wooden boxes made to look exactly like the cartons of Brillo Soap Pads and other consumer products found in supermarkets. The 100 Brillo Boxes in the Museum's collection are replicas of the 1964 originals that were made to order by Warhol in Pasadena for his 1970 retrospective exhibition at the former Pasadena Art Museum (now the Norton Simon Museum). .
