This Californian Museum Has a Stunning Modern Art Collection

If you’re looking for a chilled afternoon in a beautiful art space: consider visiting the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California. The entrance is only $15 a day and you’ll have a grand time viewing the 14th century artworks.

The museum has a modern art collection that also includes sculptures in the garden. You won’t have to go far for a snack since they also have a cafe in the garden area with great coffee. If you want some fresh air, simply step outside to the patio to gaze at the green scenery sprouting around.

Pop artist Andy Warhol was born on this day in 1928. Warhol's “Brillo Boxes” were introduced in 1964 when a New York art gallery was filled with some 400 wooden boxes made to look exactly like the cartons of Brillo Soap Pads and other consumer products found in supermarkets. The 100 Brillo Boxes in the Museum's collection are replicas of the 1964 originals that were made to order by Warhol in Pasadena for his 1970 retrospective exhibition at the former Pasadena Art Museum (now the Norton Simon Museum). . The “Brillo Boxes” are currently on view at @sfmoma in “Andy Warhol—From A to B and Back Again” through September 2. . After browsing through the modern art collections, you can give your feet a break outdoors and appreciate the tranquility of their small pond. It’s also a nice place to people-watch while pondering on the last artwork you just saw.

The museum also features a special collection on Edgar Degas – a French artist who works in the 19th century and is popularly known for his paintings, sculptures, and prints.
