Mosquitos are probably the worse part of summertime, which is a shame because being outside is essential during summer! Luckily, you can make your own DIY trap easily with things you have in the house, and it actually really works! So make the trap and finally enjoy the backyard care-free.

Tools

  • 1 empty 1-2 liter soft drink bottle
    Cord or piece of rope
  • 2 banana peels
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • 1 cup of any type of sugar

Make the Trap

Start by taking out the bananas so you can use the peels. Put them aside to eat later, or freeze for smoothies.

Then, pour in the water and sugar into the bottle, screw on the cap, and shake so the sugar mixes a little with the water.

Then, pour in the vinegar and shove the bananas peels into the bottle. If the banana peels are not totally submerged, used the handle of a wooden spoon to push them down.

Take the rope or cord and tie it securely around the neck of the bottle.

Finally, take it to your backyard, tie it to a pole or a tree, and check it about a day later to see how many mosquitos you caught!
