This Unusual Museum Celebrates Reckless Risk Takers

Looking for a place that will make you instantly feel better about all the terrible ideas that you ever had? The Museum of Failure is just the place! The traveling museum is currently located in the Swedish city of Helsingborg and comes with an impressive collection of completely useless innovations from all around the world.

Psychologist Dr. Samuel West founded this museum, after many years of seeking for spectacular commercial flops, which are now part of this exhibit. His goal was to show the world that acceptance of failure is necessary in order for innovation and progress to truly succeed.

“The Museum of Failure is a collection of over 100 failed products and services from some of the world’s best-known companies. Visitors will get insightful and entertaining glimpse into the risky business of innovation,” reads description on the official website of this quirky establishment.

First there was the Museum of Ice Cream. Then came Happy Place. And now, there’s The Museum of Failure! Housed in the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in downtown is LA’s newest exhibit everyone is talking about. Dedicated to showing off the worst product inventions of all time, visitors will find everything from Birthday Oreos to Colgate Beef Lasagna, technological failures and much more! The Museum even turns the exhibit on visitors with a ‘Failure Confessional.’ There are hundreds of sticky notes which anonymously convert each patron into their own exhibit through their own ideas that didn’t quite work out. The idea comes from Dr. Samuel West, who's made a career out of studying major marketing busts and hopes to bring home the message that failure is universal. The exhibit runs until Feb. 4, 2018.
