Coasters might seem like an old fashion thing, but in reality, if you want to protect your wooden furniture from stains, you need some coasters. Luckily, making them yourself is super easy and completely customizable! These make for perfect gifts from friends and family, and you can easily do this with the whole family!

Tools

For this recipe, you really only need two items: scrabble tiles and wood glue! If your family does not use their scrabble set, this is the perfect way to up-cycle the tiles instead of letting it sit around untouched. And if they do, you can always go to a second-hand store and they will probably have one for cheap.

Instructions

  1. Arrange the tiles into a 4×4 square. You can arrange the tiles into a word, phrase, names, or make it be completely random.
  2. Take the wood glue and glue each tile together. It is usually easier to go row by row and then glue everything from there.
  3. Allow the coasters to dry overnight, and then start using them!
  4. If you want to make them waterproof, you can always use a wood sealer, but for the sake of simplicity and time, it’s not totally neccesary.
