There is one nail trend, however, that escaped us entirely. “Sea glass nails” are suddenly all over Instagram and fashion sites are calling them the “nail trend of fall”.

The nails are translucent, like the rounded pieces of glasses you find washed up on the beach. The look is achieved using clear matte polish and the result is gorgeous.

Jessica Washick is reportedly the artist who launched the trend on Instagram. Talking with Refinery29, she said: “I was reminiscing about how fun the jelly-nail craze was [and] I wondered how that aesthetic could translate into the colder months, and the vision of opaque sea glass came to mind.”

You can mix up the look by switching up your colors and if you’re feeling adventurous, a touch of sparkle adds a little something extra to the look.

The concept was created by nail artist Unistella. She basically created a tiny hat for her fingernails with jewel studs. It’s great that someone has finally found a use for the leftover finger material of fingerless gloves.

@Unistella belongs to Korean nail artist Eun Kyung Park. She is constantly trying out new ideas and sharing her creations with her 229K+ followers.

“I previously thought that wearing a Barbie doll’s tiny beanie on my nails would be fun, and I even took a photo of myself wearing thimbles on all my fingers in 2014 saying it’s ‘Korean beauty,'” Park told Cosmpolitan “I think what’s important is the fact that I’m always challenging myself to create something that can be used in the future.”

Park promises that the nails are “comfortable enough to wear in daily life” as long as you choose the right materials.
