Quirky Things About Europe to Know Before You Go

Although there are many different countries that make up Europe each with their own cultures, there are still a lot of similarities between them. Before you go on your next trip to Europe, here are some tips and tricks to help you adjust a bit more.

Bathrooms

In most places in Europe, it’s not a given that going to the bathroom will be free, even in places like gas stations and some restaurants! For that reason, be mindful and always ask someone who works there if they’re free or not. Also, some bathrooms don’t have toilet seats so be mindful of that as well.

Open Hours

A lot of places in the US are open 24/7 or at least every day of the week, but in most places in Europe, that won’t be the case. Not only are some places like grocery stores closed on Sundays, but most shops will close pretty early in the evening and might also be closed for a few hours in the afternoon.

Showers

If you stay in an airbnb or a hostel, you might be surprise to find that there isn’t a regular shower head that is attached to the wall. Instead, sometimes there there will just be one that you need to hold yourself in order to bathe.
