You’ve decided to eat healthy food most of the time and that’s great. However, you’re probably going to face strong cravings for fast food or snacks from time to time and here are the ways to curb them.

Find Healthy Replacements

Ignoring your cravings won’t get you anywhere. What you need to do is find healthy alternatives that you can use every time the cravings come. So, instead of dense carbs, you can try vegetable-based pasta. Instead of french fries, make a batch of oven-baked sweet potato fries, and so on.

Prevent Cravings

If you eat the right foods, you can prevent cravings from happening most of the time. Focus on getting enough green vegetables, healthy fats, and lean proteins and you’ll quickly see an improvement.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

It’s so much easier to resist cravings and to even forget about certain foods when you don’t keep them at home, conveniently stacked in a drawer. Your cravings will often go away just because you have to get up and go to the store to buy what you want to eat.

Fruit is such a great way to get in tons of vitamins, minerals, and natural, energy-boosting sugar. However, if you’ve ever had a big meal and then went straight to a piece of fruit for dessert and felt pain or discomfort afterward, you’re not alone.

There are a lot of misconceptions about when you should be eating fruit, and there are more optimal times than others.

One of the better times to eat fruit is in the morning because it’s when your metabolism is the fastest. This will allow the sugars and the nutrients to be absorbed best and give you the energy to start your day.

You don’t need to eat fruit on a completely empty stomach during this time, but it’s definitely recommended to drink water first to rehydrate your body.

If you need something sweet after a meal but want to avoid unnatural sugary things, the fruit is a great option. However, the best way to eat it is to wait at least 30 minutes after your meal so your food can start to digest. Because of all the fiber and sugar in fruit, it can slow down your digestion a lot, and that can lead to cramps, bloating, and more.

A lot of times people have the motivation to eat healthier, but putting it into practice becomes a little difficult. If you find yourself in this position, there are some easy ways to pull yourself out of it! You can actually trick yourself into eating healthier with these tips, so give them a try!

Prep

If you prepare your food before you get hungry, you are much more likely to eat it. Have things in your fridge that are ready to go like quinoa, brown rice, sauteed vegetables, or soup so when you do get hungry, you have some quick fixes that will satisfy and keep you healthy.

Snacking

Snacking can be bad if you’re munching on the wrong kinds of food because you are more likely to eat something if it’s in front of you. Instead of mindless eating unhealthy snacks, swap them for fruits and veggies! The same rules apply, but instead of mindlessly eating chips, you’ll be mindlessly eating carrots or grapes.

Plates

You can trick your brain into thinking you’re eating more than you are, which is really helpful when you want to control your portions! By eating something off a smaller plate, your brain will think it’s actually large because it’s comparing it to the size of the plate.

The term foodie has been thrown around a lot in the past few years, but it has come to mean someone who loves eating and learning about food. Although this can come with a pretentious stigma, being a foodie can actually make you a healthier person. If you’ve been skeptical to dive into the food world, here are some reasons why you might want to start.

Education

A lot of foodies love being knowledgeable about all sorts of different kinds of food, and by researching and educating yourself about food, you learn much more than just flavors. Food education can also lead to education about health properties of different foods and spices, which means that you can learn about ways to get healthier based on your food choices.

Variety

Foodies also eat a lot of different types of foods, which gives them a varied diet. This is actually really healthy because you are not only exposing your body to an array of ingredients but varying your diet is very good for your body. Instead of getting stuck in a cycle of the same dishes and ingredients, foodies are more likely to introduce new foods into their diets that help them in a myriad of ways.

Holiday weight gain is a real thing, people! Having to go through the festive season without eating all the delicious meals served on the table is a real struggle. But, we come to the rescue. We bring you the best tips on how to avoid this unexpected and unwanted weight gain.

No More White Baked Goods

That delicious white bread on the table is off limits. Or, if you actually decide to eat it, only eat a piece. These white baked goods are packed in carbohydrates. They also create a fast increase of the blood sugar, but that will only make you even hungrier in a few hours.

Go For Healthy Fats

Healthy fats will keep your stomach happy and you will avoid that extra holiday weight gain. Eggs, avocados, dark chocolate, salmon are just a part of the foods that contain plenty of healthy fats.

Opt For Lean Protein

Lean protein goes straight to the muscles. In other words, you won’t be gaining any unwanted weight.

Do Extra Exercise

The fact that it’s the holiday season doesn’t mean that you should forget about working out. In fact, you should exercise even harder to burn that extra that you eat.
