If you dread the thought of working out on a daily basis and you can’t find the motivation to do it, maybe there is a way you can change that. What if we told you there is a simple way you can watch your favorite Netflix TV show and exercise at the same time? Check out these simple exercises you can do from the comfort of your couch.

Boat Pose

Boat pose is one of the basic yoga exercises that’s easy to do while sitting on your couch and watching TV. Just lift your feet off the ground, bend your knees, and try to do this for 30 seconds. This exercise is great for your spine, straightening your abdominals and hip flexors.

Russian Twist

Russian twists are amazing for strengthening your core, obliques, and spine and you can easily do them while sitting on your couch. Use weights, bottled water, or other heavy objects you can find in your home to add pressure if the basic version is too easy for you.

Couch Dips

If you want to target your triceps, chest, and shoulders, do at least 10 couch dips in between commercial breaks. It’s not an easy exercise, but it’s great for improving your strength.

Ok, so you’ve mastered the basic squat, your form is correct, and you are lifting a good amount of weight, but now you want something more intense. There are so many things you can add to the basic squat to keep your workouts more interesting. You can change the pace, mix it up with a different stance, use weightlifting shoes or add a box.  All of these will add something to your workout and give you better results.

Changing the Pace

Changing the tempo of the move can really intensify the work you do on your legs and glutes. You can go down for 3 counts and come up for 1. Go down for a count of 2 and up for 2 or you can go down for 3 counts hold at the bottom for 2 and come up for 1.

Different Stance

Doing a different stance with the squat can push you harder and make the move more effective. Try the sumo squat where your legs are further apart and the weight is held in between the legs. This will target more of the inside leg muscles.

Box Squat

A poor range of motion is a common mistake with the squat. Most people want to add weight without reaching their desired depth or range of motion. So if you are having problems put a box behind you and squat down on to the box to achieve a 90-degree knee bend.

Side Lunges

This is one of the basic exercises that’ll help you get your perfect thighs. It’s great for beginners and the only thing you should worry about is to maintain good posture for the best effect. 

Split Squats

This exercise may be hard for a beginner, but very soon you’ll find that it’s extremely effective. It’s targeting your hamstrings and glutes and you can also make it more difficult by adding weights.

🏋️‍♂️ Front Foot Elevated Split Squat 🏋️‍♀️ ⠀⠀ This is a great example of an exercise that can produce results in strength, size, flexibility and structural balance all at once. All of my clients are exposed to this exercise very early on in their training with me as it’s a great way to progress further in to a squat for those new to resistance training and also for those a bit more advanced who want to improve mobility and range of motion. ⠀⠀ Why to elevate the front foot? Most of my clients are females working long days in the office and then running around in heels all weekend making them prone to tightness in the hip flexors, quads, hamstrings and calves. It’s hard to imagine that a delicious piece of chocolate and a quality workout could ever be mentioned in the same sentence. However, experienced personal trainers Ryan and Eric Johnson claim that dark chocolate can actually improve your workout.

“Dark chocolate releases dopamine and has a lot of benefits such as vasodilation which is basically that pump that people are after when they’re trying to build muscle”, Eric told in an interview for *Insider*.

Brothers Ryan and Eric are the owners of Homage Fitness gyms and they advise their clients to eat a piece of quality dark chocolate 10 to 15 minutes before the workout.

Ryan says that eating dark chocolate has some psychological benefits as well.

“It creates this positive feedback loop with your brain — now that you’re getting this piece of chocolate before your workout, you’re creating a positive association with your training session and you’re getting more excited to get to the gym… you have something to look forward to”, Ryan said.

Johnson brothers have been in the fitness industry for more than a decade and they often work with Hollywood celebrities. Eric is training with famous actress Scarlett Johansson and he prepared her for movies like Captain America: Winter Soldier, Ghost in The Shell, and Avengers: Endgame.

Having perfectly shaped legs is not as hard as it seems as long as you’re ready to exercise three days per week. If you’re ready to commit to this, here are some of the best exercises to try.

Side Lunges

This is one of the basic exercises that’ll help you get your perfect thighs. It’s great for beginners and the only thing you should worry about is to maintain good posture for the best effect. 

Split Squats

This exercise may be hard for a beginner, but very soon you’ll find that it’s extremely effective. It’s targeting your hamstrings and glutes and you can also make it more difficult by adding weights.

🏋️‍♂️ Front Foot Elevated Split Squat 🏋️‍♀️ ⠀⠀ This is a great example of an exercise that can produce results in strength, size, flexibility and structural balance all at once. All of my clients are exposed to this exercise very early on in their training with me as it’s a great way to progress further in to a squat for those new to resistance training and also for those a bit more advanced who want to improve mobility and range of motion. ⠀⠀ Why to elevate the front foot? Most of my clients are females working long days in the office and then running around in heels all weekend making them prone to tightness in the hip flexors, quads, hamstrings and calves. Elevating the front leg onto a step removes those limitation allowing for greater range of motion. ⠀⠀ ✔ make sure you keep the weight evenly distributed between your big toe, little toe and heel at all times ✔ go down slowly keeping your body in upright position ✔ focus on depth – bring your hip to your front heel to ensure a great stretch in your hip flexor while keeping your foot flat on the step ✔ keep your back foot on your tippy toes and squeeze your glutes as you’re coming up ⠀⠀ Add dumbbells for more intensity 💪 ⠀⠀ 1 on 1 coaching available! It’s hard to imagine that a delicious piece of chocolate and a quality workout could ever be mentioned in the same sentence. However, experienced personal trainers Ryan and Eric Johnson claim that dark chocolate can actually improve your workout.

“Dark chocolate releases dopamine and has a lot of benefits such as vasodilation which is basically that pump that people are after when they’re trying to build muscle”, Eric told in an interview for *Insider*.

Brothers Ryan and Eric are the owners of Homage Fitness gyms and they advise their clients to eat a piece of quality dark chocolate 10 to 15 minutes before the workout.

Ryan says that eating dark chocolate has some psychological benefits as well.

“It creates this positive feedback loop with your brain — now that you’re getting this piece of chocolate before your workout, you’re creating a positive association with your training session and you’re getting more excited to get to the gym… you have something to look forward to”, Ryan said.

Johnson brothers have been in the fitness industry for more than a decade and they often work with Hollywood celebrities. Eric is training with famous actress Scarlett Johansson and he prepared her for movies like Captain America: Winter Soldier, Ghost in The Shell, and Avengers: Endgame.
